Studies show that 90 percent of brain development happens during a child’s first five years.1 Moreover, the lack of early childhood education and socialization opportunities can cause long-term behavioral and cognitive difficulties.
THE PROBLEM
It is estimated that 9,550 children will be diagnosed with cancer in the United States this year.2
Young children battling cancer have suppressed immune systems due to chemotherapy treatment, and risk of infection and serious illness by attending typical preschool programs.
THE SOLUTION: THE MORGAN CENTER
THE MORGAN CENTER (TMC) is the first and still the only program of its kind in the United States for preschool-age children battling cancer.
Founded in 2003 by the parents of a young cancer patient named Morgan, THE MORGAN CENTER is provided FREE of charge with no cost to the families. All operating expenses are covered by private donations and fundraising.
From humble beginnings, TMC has given hundreds of young children with cancer the opportunity to learn, socialize, make friends, and have fun in a safe preschool environment.
In August of 2019, TMC opened a second in-person program in Central Florida, at the request of leaders in the Orlando pediatric cancer community.
